EcoVadis, a leading sustainability intelligence platform for global supply chains, has announced the addition of Antoine Verger and Varena Junge to its team, aiming to advance its carbon reduction strategies. The pair will spearhead the development of a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) tool as part of EcoVadis’ Carbon Action Manager solution, which enhances carbon maturity across supply chains by providing detailed product-level data.
With regulatory demands for carbon transparency intensifying—such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the anticipated Digital Product Passport initiative—organisations increasingly require accurate carbon data for products. In the US, several states now mandate environmental product declarations (EPDs) for government-funded construction projects.
“The regulatory landscape is putting increasing pressure on organisations to understand and report on carbon emissions in the products they purchase from their trading partners. Organisations cannot fully understand the full scope of their emissions without carbon data at product level. Antoine and Varena bring highly sought-after expertise to speed up product innovation and respond to rising demand for tools that can meet the new carbon regulatory requirements,” said Julia Salant, General Manager Carbon Solution at EcoVadis.
EcoVadis’ Carbon Action Manager already supports over 130,000 companies, with 70,000 suppliers rated on carbon maturity and 37,000 reporting emissions data. A recent Carbon Action Report revealed that while advanced companies are increasingly demanding PCF data from their suppliers, fewer than 4% of smaller suppliers can provide it.
Verger and Junge will focus on creating a simple PCF calculator aligned with CBAM and PACT frameworks, enhancing the EcoVadis network’s ability to share actionable product-level carbon data. Verger, with 15 years of software development experience, and Junge, a seasoned PCF and decarbonisation expert, bring extensive expertise to accelerate EcoVadis’ innovation efforts.
