ACC appoints Adam Peer as plastics sustainability team lead

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) has announced that Adam Peer, previously Senior Director of Packaging & Consumer Products Markets, will now lead the council’s Plastics Sustainability Team. In his new role as Senior Director of Plastics Sustainability, Peer is tasked with steering the strategic direction of the team and enhancing collaborations throughout the plastics value chain to promote circular economy objectives.

Adam Peer expressed enthusiasm about his new role and said, “Science-based policy can play a critical role in accelerating the transition to a circular economy. I’m excited to step up our efforts to convene plastic producers, recyclers, and policymakers and the value chain in this new role.” His goal is to advance ACC’s ambitious target to reuse, recycle, or recover 100% of plastic packaging by 2040.

Ross Eisenberg, Vice President of the ACC Plastics Division said, “Adam brings a depth of knowledge on plastics policy and a proven track record of engaging stakeholders across the value chain on critical sustainability issues. His expertise, combined with his thoughtful leadership make him the perfect fit to manage our portfolio of plastics sustainability priorities.”

Prior to his tenure at ACC, Peer was involved in legislative and regulatory initiatives aimed at advancing the physician assistant profession and played a pivotal role in enacting professional employer organisation legislation across 11 states. A Wisconsin native, he served as a policy advisor in the state assembly and was elected the youngest member of the Rock County Board, where he chaired the Committee on Public Safety and Justice.
