Eco Wave Power launches MW scale wave energy project in Portugal

Eco Wave Power Global AB, a company specialising in onshore wave energy technology, has launched its first MW-scale wave energy project in Porto, Portugal. The company’s founder and CEO Inna Braverman, along with the company’s engineering team, met with APDL (Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo, S.A.) and other key stakeholders to officially launch the project.

Following the meeting, Eco Wave Power’s team conducted a site visit to the breakwater and the adjacent area known as “The Gallery,” where the company’s energy conversion equipment will be installed. This site will also be transformed into a wave energy museum and education center, the first of its kind.

The initial MW project is part of a 20MW Concession Agreement with APDL, with plans for gradual expansion to the full 20MW capacity. In March 2024, Eco Wave Power received the final approval (TURH license) from the APDL Port Authority for construction and issued a performance bond to APDL, demonstrating its commitment to completing the project within two years.
