RWE has secured contracts for two wind projects with a combined capacity of 41.3 MW from the French Energy Regulation Commission’s (CRE) latest onshore wind auction (AO 16). The awarded wind farms will collectively supply green electricity to approximately 33,700 residents.
The Morgat wind farm, located in the Charente-Maritime department, will feature two turbines with a total capacity of 11.8 MW, while the Pressoirs wind farm in the Indre region will deploy five turbines, contributing 29.5 MW of capacity. RWE has also committed to implementing comprehensive local support measures to ensure the projects are seamlessly integrated into their host communities, fostering regional development and sustainability.
“This new success reflects RWE’s winning approach: making each project exemplary in combining local integration with competitive pricing. These good results reflect our growth in the French market, in line with our Growing Green strategy,” said Katja Wünschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia.
Since entering the French renewable energy market in late 2020, RWE has commissioned 240 MW of renewable capacity. The company is actively advancing over 1.4 GW of onshore wind projects and nearly 900 MWp of solar projects in France. Additionally, RWE is participating in all French offshore wind tenders, to supporting the nation’s energy transition.
Globally, RWE is aiming to expand its green energy portfolio to over 65 GW by 2030 under its Growing Green strategy. To achieve this ambitious target, the company has committed to investing €55 billion globally between 2024 and the end of the decade, reinforcing its position as a leader in the global energy transition.
