ENGIE North America and Meta have finalised their second renewable energy agreement in 2024, securing 200 MW of capacity from the Anson 2 solar project in Texas. The project will help meet Meta’s growing power demands.

The Anson 2 solar facility, developed by ENGIE, will supply renewable energy and environmental attributes to Meta. Located in Jones County, Texas, the project is expected to begin operations in late 2025, further contributing to Meta’s clean energy portfolio, which now exceeds 12 GW globally.

The Anson 2 solar project will provide economic benefits to the surrounding community, creating over 300 local jobs during construction. It is estimated to generate $56 million in tax revenues over its lifespan, with $28 million allocated to local school districts.

Dave Carroll, Chief Renewables Officer and EVP, ENGIE North America said, “This is the second agreement we completed with Meta in 2024 and reflects our commitment to develop and operate projects that meet the needs of our customers.”

Urvi Parekh, Global Head of Energy Meta said, “Since 2020, we have maintained net zero emissions in our global operations – these efforts are supported by relationships such as those with ENGIE with a strong track record of delivering and operating projects that support our operations, help meet our energy needs and implement our net zero goals.”
