Singapore’s GIC appoints Emily Chew as sustainability head

GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, has appointed Emily Chew as head of sustainability, over a year after the position was vacated. Chew joins from Calvert Research and Management, a Morgan Stanley subsidiary, where she served as executive vice president and chief responsible investment officer. She also co-chaired the Morgan Stanley Investment Management Sustainability Council.

Before her tenure at Morgan Stanley, which began in 2020, Chew was the global head of ESG research and integration for Manulife Investment Management in Hong Kong and Boston.

She succeeds Rachel Teo, who left GIC last year after 18 years and joined Bayshore Global Management, the family office of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, in March.
