Tesla is set to supply its advanced Megapack batteries to Project Chevire, which is stated to be France’s largest battery energy storage system (BESS), in collaboration with Harmony Energy. The project will be located at the Nantes Saint-Nazaire Harbour, an area previously occupied by a fossil fuel power station.
Project Chevire, with a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh, is designed to provide up to two hours of electricity to approximately 170,000 homes. The control of power distribution will be facilitated by Tesla’s Autobidder EMS technology. The construction is scheduled to begin soon, with completion targeted for 2025. Andy Symonds, CEO of Harmony Energy in France said, “Developing and operating vital battery energy storage facilities across France will lead to enhanced energy security, more affordable energy bills, and the decarbonization of the grid. We are excited to commence building works on our first project.”
