ABB has unveiled ABB Ability™ BuildingPro, a new cybersecure integration platform designed to connect, manage and optimise building operations across commercial, public and institutional sectors. Now available in more than 40 countries, the platform aims to support decarbonisation efforts and accelerate digital transformation in buildings.
Positioned as a central intelligence layer, BuildingPro consolidates data from multiple building systems to improve performance, reduce energy use and enhance occupant experience. The platform is built on openBOS®, offering open, edge-based architecture with advanced interoperability and cybersecurity fully aligned with international standards. It is designed to accommodate future AI-enabled tools, making it a long-term foundation for digital building operations.
As part of the rollout, ABB introduced two complementary solutions: ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Vision and ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Edge Series. Together, they allow building owners, operators and system integrators to monitor, control and optimise buildings in real time, whether managing a single site or an entire portfolio.
“Buildings today need to do more; they need to be smart, adaptive, sustainable, and secure,” said Lucy Han, Business Line Leader, Building Automation, ABB Electrification’s Smart Buildings Division. “With ABB Ability™ BuildingPro, we are helping our customers take control of their building data, make smarter decisions in real time, and accelerate their journey toward decarbonisation – all while creating more comfortable, productive spaces for people.”
BuildingPro Vision provides facility teams with a live, web-based operating interface featuring animated floor plans, dashboards and asset views. It supports both cloud and local deployment, enabling faster and more informed decision-making on-site.
The BuildingPro Edge Series consists of hardware controllers designed to securely gather and process local building data while enabling cloud connectivity. The devices support predictive analytics and future AI-driven automation.
With buildings responsible for around 30% of global energy consumption and 26% of emissions, BuildingPro enables users to visualise and act on energy data to cut consumption, reduce costs and progress towards sustainability goals. Beyond energy performance, ABB says the platform enhances occupant comfort, indoor environmental quality and cybersecurity.
Built on an open, scalable and cybersecure architecture, BuildingPro integrates with both legacy and next-generation technologies, supporting major industry protocols such as BACnet®, Modbus, KNX, LonWorks and MQTT. ABB positions the platform as a flexible solution capable of adapting to tightening sustainability requirements and evolving building standards.
