Air bp has signed a multi-year agreement with Airbus for the supply of conventional jet fuel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and related services across Germany and Spain.
Under the contract, Air bp will support a broad range of Airbus operations, including its commercial aircraft, helicopter and military aircraft divisions. The agreement covers fuel supply for flight testing, customer aircraft deliveries and internal logistics operations, including the Beluga transport fleet, as well as the daily employee shuttle service operating between Toulouse and Hamburg.
The deal represents one of the largest voluntary SAF offtakes by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). In addition to fuel supply, the contract includes dedicated account management, regular technical maintenance services in Germany and a new collaboration with Airbus Spain covering fuel supply, storage and into-plane operations.
Christian Frohn, Vice President at Air bp, said the agreement demonstrates the strength of the partnership between the two companies and Air bp’s ability to deliver integrated, cross-border solutions.
“This agreement highlights our strong partnership with Airbus and our ability to deliver complex, multi-country solutions that support operational efficiency and emissions reduction,” he said.
He added that the deal reflects the company’s strategic focus on key markets and long-term partnerships. Sustainable aviation fuel can reduce lifecycle carbon dioxide emissions by up to 80% compared with conventional jet fuel, depending on feedstock and production pathway. However, SAF does not reduce emissions at the point of combustion, meaning emissions at the aircraft wingtip remain comparable to those from fossil-based jet fuel.
