AirAsia to deploy GE Aerospace’s fuel insight to boost fleet efficiency

AirAsia will roll out GE Aerospace’s Fuel Insight platform across its Southeast Asian operations to strengthen fuel efficiency and improve flight performance, the companies said on Friday. The agreement renews the low-cost carrier’s collaboration with GE Aerospace’s Software as a Service unit.

The platform will provide a group-wide solution for all Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) within the AirAsia Aviation Group, enabling the carrier to use real flight and operational data to optimise fuel use, improve route planning, and cut unnecessary fuel burn. The move is expected to generate cost savings while enhancing operational reliability and sustainability.

Datuk Captain Chester Voo, Deputy Group CEO (Airline Operations) of AirAsia Aviation Group, said the partnership would help the airline make “smarter, data-informed decisions” to support cost-efficiency and sustainability goals, ultimately offering more competitive fares.

Andrew Coleman, General Manager of GE Aerospace’s Software as a Service division, said Fuel Insight equips airlines with tools to “safely operate more efficiently and more sustainably,” adding that AirAsia has been a “trailblazer” in fuel efficiency for over a decade.
