Amazon names four UK start-ups to join 2025 sustainability accelerator cohort

Amazon has selected four UK-based start-ups to join its 2025 Sustainability Accelerator, a programme offering financial and practical support to businesses developing innovative climate solutions.

Launched in 2022, the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator provides a 10-week programme that includes an equity-free grant, expert-led workshops, specialised mentorship from Amazon, and access to computing resources through Amazon Web Services (AWS). The initiative has already supported over 50 companies across the UK and Europe, distributing more than €1 million in grants and credits. Participating businesses have seen average sales growth of 700% and have collectively raised over €18.7 million in funding.

Priyanka Wadhawan, Amazon’s Director of Seller Services, said: “It’s inspiring to see entrepreneurs put sustainability at the heart of innovation. I’m thrilled to welcome these innovative companies to our 2025 cohort and see how they bring their ideas for a sustainable future to life.”

The selected UK start-ups include:

  • Bantu Chocolate, which uses regenerative agriculture and ensures fair wages across its cacao supply chain.
  • Composty, a maker of durable, plastic-free cleaning products.
  • Grace & Green, which offers sustainable period care products including certified organic tampons and reusable underwear.
  • Kwerky, which produces additive-free powdered milk alternatives from oats and peas.

Frances Lucraft, founder of Grace & Green, commented: “This opportunity allows us to accelerate our impact, learn from leaders in the space, and take bolder steps toward a more sustainable future.”

The UK companies will join four other European start-ups in the 2025 cohort: Greece’s AuraSkin (upcycled coffee-based skincare), France’s Horée (vegan, plastic-free skincare), Italy’s Hygge (locally sourced pet food), and Ireland’s Omuu Pet (insect-based pet nutrition).

The accelerator is supported by climate innovation agency Climate-KIC and consultancy Growth Studio, who will help participants refine their business growth strategies.

Dr Kirsten Dunlop, CEO of Climate-KIC, said: “Our goal is to catalyse a new generation of businesses that contribute significantly to reducing emissions, promoting resilience, and supporting healthy, affordable living within planetary boundaries.”
