Australia secures seat on Sustainability Standards Advisory Forum

The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) has announced that Australia has been appointed to the Sustainability Standards Advisory Forum (SSAF). This prestigious global advisory body was established by the IFRS Foundation to assist the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in crafting a comprehensive global baseline for sustainability-related disclosures within capital markets.

Australia will be represented on the SSAF by two key figures from the AASB—Charis Halliday, Director of Strategy and Co-Lead Sustainability, and Lachlan McDonald-Kerr, Director of Sustainability and Co-Lead. The duo will provide vital technical expertise and jurisdictional insights to bolster the ISSB’s ongoing standard-setting initiatives.

This strategic appointment significantly enhances Australia’s influence on the international stage, ensuring that Australian expertise directly informs the ISSB’s technical priorities across its global programme.
