Milan-based Bee Solar and China’s Huasun have entered into a cooperation agreement in the photovoltaic sector, Italy’s Industry Ministry announced on Friday. This deal is part of a broader alliance with the Chinese Ministry of Industry.
Chinese solar components are prevalent in Europe due to their low cost, raising concerns about the continent’s dependency on Chinese products and technologies for its decarbonisation goals. To address this, the Italian government is supporting domestic solar component producers and facilitating partnerships with Chinese manufacturers.
“This partnership fully responds to the goal that our countries intend to achieve in the field of green technologies,” Italy’s Industry Minister Adolfo Urso said in a statement.
Bee Solar plans to establish a photovoltaic production hub in Italy using Huasun’s technology, with construction expected to begin by March 2025. Huasun is keen to enhance its presence in the European market through this collaboration.
The agreement follows Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s recent visit to China earlier this week, which also resulted in a deal between EuroGroup Laminations and Hixih in the automotive sector. Additional agreements in green technology may be announced soon.
