Blackstone has acquired Alliance Technical Group (ATG) through funds affiliated with Blackstone Energy Transition Partners and other Blackstone-managed vehicles, the firm said.
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Alabama, ATG is one of the largest full-service environmental testing, monitoring and compliance providers in North America. The company employs more than 2,200 people across more than 60 offices and laboratories in the United States and Canada.
ATG provides a range of environmental compliance services, including source and laboratory testing, continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), and leak detection and repair. Its services support regulatory compliance, operational safety and efficiency, supported by data-driven insights.
Chris LeMay, chief executive of Alliance Technical Group, said the investment reflected the company’s organic and strategic growth as a market leader in testing, inspection and compliance services. He added that the partnership with Blackstone would support ATG’s continued expansion as customers navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
Darius Sepassi, senior managing director, and Mark Henle, managing director at Blackstone, said ATG was a market leader in emissions testing and monitoring, providing services critical to customers’ compliance and operational performance. They said Blackstone would use its scale and resources to support the company’s growth across power, energy and industrial markets.
David Foley, global head of Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, said the investment aligned with the firm’s focus on businesses positioned to benefit from rising electricity demand and the broader energy transition. He added that ATG plays a key role in helping energy and industrial facilities operate safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.
The acquisition follows a series of recent investments by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners in areas linked to electricity demand growth and energy transition themes, including Maclean Power Systems, Wolf Summit Energy, Hill Top Energy Center, Shermco, Enverus, Lancium and Westwood.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Harris Williams and RBC acted as financial advisers to Blackstone, with Kirkland & Ellis serving as legal adviser. Piper Sandler advised Alliance Technical Group, with Jones Day acting as legal counsel.
