CATL and DHL forge partnership to advance sustainable logistics

CATL, a leader in advanced battery technology, and DHL Group, the world’s largest logistics provider, have entered a strategic partnership to drive sustainable logistics and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in logistics parks.

As part of the agreement, CATL will supply DHL’s logistics parks with cutting-edge liquid-cooling energy storage systems and energy management platforms. These systems, integrated with battery swapping and superfast charging technologies, aim to optimise energy structures and maximise the use of renewable energy across DHL’s global operations. The initiative is closely aligned with DHL’s ambitious sustainability goal of creating net zero-emission logistics by 2050.

The partnership extends beyond logistics parks to explore innovations in electric vehicles (EVs), battery recycling, and end-of-life management. Supported by DHL’s global network of EV Centres of Excellence, CATL will leverage DHL’s expertise to develop innovative solutions for the auto-mobility sector, further advancing sustainable logistics worldwide.

“By combining DHL’s extensive logistics expertise with CATL’s pioneering green technology, we are creating a transformative sustainable logistics solution,” said Libin Tan, Co-President of Sales and Marketing at CATL. “This strengthened collaboration will not only help us achieve our shared sustainability targets but also contribute to a greener future globally.”

Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain said, “We’re excited to implement CATL’s advanced energy solutions in our logistics parks while offering our world-class logistics services to CATL. This partnership perfectly exemplifies innovation and teamwork in pursuit of a shared sustainability mission.”

The framework agreement builds on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed last year, which outlined a roadmap for collaboration in creating carbon-neutral facilities and electrifying DHL’s fleet of pick-up and delivery vehicles.

To enhance the global adoption of green technologies, DHL has also been selected as CATL’s preferred logistics service provider. By leveraging its EV Centres of Excellence, DHL will facilitate the deployment of integrated logistics solutions to support CATL’s mission of making high-quality energy technology accessible worldwide.
