CDP, the world’s sole independent environmental disclosure system, has launched a new platform aimed at revolutionising reporting efficiency and accelerating action. This move is set to simplify reporting processes and eliminate obstacles to high-quality climate and nature disclosures.
The revamped platform, accessible to 75,000 companies alongside cities, states, and regions, aims to reduce reporting complexities and facilitate agile disclosure practices.
Amidst the global surge in mandatory climate disclosure regulations, CDP has introduced a new questionnaire aligned with IFRS S2, the ISSB’s climate standard, as the foundational framework for climate disclosure within CDP.
Furthermore, CDP has made significant strides in aligning with other pivotal standards such as the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and the European Union standards (ESRS), consolidating them into a single questionnaire and dataset.
This alignment not only enhances efficiency for both reporters and data users but also supports countries seeking mandatory alignment with ISSB Standards, covering nearly 55% of global GDP. CDP’s alignment efforts aim to simplify compliance processes. Notably, CDP’s latest analysis reveals that a significant portion of listed companies, nearly 60%, are already reporting the majority of data points aligned with IFRS S2 in CDP’s questionnaire.
The new streamlined questionnaire, encompassing climate, forests, water, biodiversity, and plastics, empowers organisations to comprehensively assess environmental risks, impacts, and opportunities across their operations, supply chain, and financial strategies. Additionally, CDP has introduced a dedicated questionnaire for SMEs, tailored to their resources and requirements, to enhance capacity building across the global value chain.
