EFRAG opens applications for sustainability reporting expert group

EFRAG has opened applications for its Sustainability Reporting Technical Expert Group (SR TEG), inviting professionals with expertise across environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics to apply. Applications close on 1 March 2026.

Members of the SR TEG provide technical advice to the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board on draft European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and support their implementation. The group plays a key role in shaping sustainability reporting requirements under the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

EFRAG is seeking candidates from a broad range of professional backgrounds, including academia, auditing, banking, consultancy, insurance, consumer organisations, small and medium-sized enterprises, NGOs, trade unions and corporate preparers. Investors and financial analysts are particularly encouraged to apply. Priority expertise areas include biodiversity, value-chain impact measurement, social issues and ESG reporting standards.

Applicants are expected to have practical experience with the 2023 ESRS and the voluntary sustainability reporting standard for SMEs (VSME), familiarity with draft simplified ESRS and the simplification process, and hands-on experience with international sustainability reporting standards referenced under the CSRD.

EFRAG noted that members must act independently, in a personal capacity, and commit to serving the European public interest. Selection will aim to ensure geographical balance, gender diversity and a broad mix of professional expertise. Eligibility is limited to candidates holding nationality from a European Economic Area country.

Interviews will be conducted online between March and April 2026, with all applicants informed of the outcome following a decision by the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board. Appointments will begin on 1 May 2026, with initial terms of one or two years, and possible reappointments extending up to a maximum of six years.
