Etihad adds carbon offset redemption to Etihad for Business platform

Etihad Airways has enhanced its Etihad for Business (EYB) platform to allow corporate customers to redeem loyalty credits for carbon offsets directly through the online portal, building on its existing partnership with climate solutions provider CarbonClick.

The new functionality enables companies to use EYB credits to offset emissions linked to business travel, alongside existing options such as flight upgrades, priority services, lounge access and excess baggage.

Javier Alija, vice president for global sales and distribution at Etihad Airways, said the update was designed to support companies’ voluntary climate commitments. “By integrating carbon offsets directly into Etihad for Business, we make it easier for corporate clients to understand the emissions associated with their travel and take practical steps to support climate action as part of their day-to-day travel management,” he said.

Etihad launched the fully digital Etihad for Business corporate programme earlier this year, consolidating its business travel offering into a single online platform. The portal allows corporate clients to manage bookings, access contract information, track spending and redeem credits across a range of benefits.

The airline said additional features will be rolled out over the coming year, including automated performance reporting, clearer tiering requirements, real-time analytics and simplified contract management.

“With Etihad for Business, we’ve put control directly into the hands of our corporate clients,” Alija said. “Business travel management should be simple, not complex. This new carbon offset option further helps companies align their travel programmes with their environmental goals.”

Etihad said the integration of carbon offset redemption strengthens the platform’s role as a digital, self-service tool for corporate travel management, while offering businesses a more streamlined way to support their climate objectives.
