Clean energy firm Exowatt has officially opened its new 11-acre campus in Austin, marking a major expansion as it scales modular power solutions to meet the soaring electricity demands of the AI sector.
The move, timed to coincide with the SXSW festival, establishes a strategic hub for the company’s engineering, manufacturing, and operations in the heart of the U.S. Southwest’s burgeoning AI infrastructure corridor.
The 48,000-square-foot facility is designed to accelerate the production of Exowatt’s modular energy systems. By utilising a domestic supply chain, the company aims to bypass the grid constraints currently bottlenecking data centre growth.
“We are witnessing a historic collision between the digital demand for AI and the physical reality of our power grid,” said Hannan Happi, CEO and Co-Founder of Exowatt. “Our new Austin campus allows us to scale at the pace of our customers.”
The expansion follows a $50 million (£39 million) Series A extension closed late last year, with participation from Austin-based Overmatch Ventures. Investors view power as the primary “gating factor” for the next generation of computing.
To further address this, Exowatt recently launched ExoRise, a dedicated business arm focused on providing turnkey powered land solutions across high-solar regions, including Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico.
