Japanese IT company Fujitsu Limited and US IT company Supermicro Inc. have announced a long-term strategic collaboration aimed at developing high-performance, energy-efficient computing platforms powered by Fujitsu’s future Arm-based “FUJITSU-MONAKA” processor. Set for release in 2027, the processor will be a key component of the companies’ joint efforts to deliver state-of-the-art systems designed for workloads such as artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), and next-generation green data centres.
The collaboration will also focus on developing liquid-cooled systems, addressing the rising power consumption challenges faced by the growing AI and data centre industries. With the demand for data centre capacity continuing to surge, innovative and efficient cooling solutions are critical to meeting these power requirements. Supermicro, an industry leader in liquid cooling technologies, will bring its expertise to this initiative.

Central to the partnership is the “FUJITSU-MONAKA” processor, a highly anticipated innovation based on the Arm instruction set architecture. Developed using cutting-edge 2-nanometer technology, the processor is expected to offer excellent performance and power efficiency, aligning with the project’s goal of reducing power consumption in data centres. This new processor technology is part of a project subsidised by Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

In addition, the partnership will include Fsas Technologies Inc., a Fujitsu subsidiary, which will provide AI platform-based generative AI solutions globally. These solutions will integrate Supermicro’s GPU server products, offering robust support to data centre operators and enterprises looking to adopt sustainable AI infrastructure.
