The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is on the lookout for a Chief Executive Officer to spearhead its strategic positioning and guide its talented, diverse team through new opportunities for growth and impact. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Supervisory Board, the CEO will be responsible for steering GRI’s strategy implementation, managing day-to-day operations, engaging with international partners, and serving as the principal spokesperson.
The deadline for applications is Friday 23rd August 2024 at 09:00 CEST. GRI announced in mid-June that Eelco van der Enden will step down as CEO at the end of his current three-year term, continuing to serve until 31 December 2024.
For over 25 years, GRI has pioneered a global common language for organisations to be transparent about their impacts on people and the planet. It provides Reporting Standards alongside tools and training for organisations worldwide to advance the practice of sustainability reporting. With more than 14,000 GRI reporters in over 100 countries, GRI enables businesses, investors, policymakers, and civil society to use this information to engage in dialogue and make decisions that support sustainable development.
The successful candidate for the position will bring a track record of senior strategic leadership, business acumen, and a partnership mindset, along with highly effective communication skills. According to the organisation the ideal CEO will be adept at networking with partner organisations, senior leaders, public policymakers, and other key stakeholders. The role requires an experienced and competent people leader who is excited about working with a purpose-driven and culturally diverse team. The new CEO will need to be an inspiring and persuasive communicator with demonstrated experience in fundraising and income generation. Knowledge of global sustainability and its relevance to business, international and national policy, the economy, markets, and society is essential, along with experience in organisational reporting.
