Hoffmann Green and BRIAND formalise low-carbon cement partnership

Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies and BRIAND have signed a partnership agreement aimed at increasing the use of Hoffmann Green’s low-carbon cements across BRIAND Construction projects, as the two companies seek to expand the adoption of lower-emissions materials in the construction sector.

Under the agreement, BRIAND plans to scale up the use of Hoffmann Green’s clinker-free cements in a range of construction applications. The partnership follows several years of testing and early deployments, with BRIAND having used around 7,500 cubic metres of Hoffmann concrete since initial trials began in mid-2022.

Julien Blanchard and David Hoffmann, co-founders of Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies, said the agreement formalises a collaboration that has existed for several years. “This partnership with BRIAND goes beyond a simple commercial agreement: it is a true alliance between two companies that share the same vision of a more sustainable and environmentally responsible construction sector,” they said. “Together, we are demonstrating that it is possible to combine performance, competitiveness and decarbonisation on a large scale.”

Jean-François Barrère, chief executive of BRIAND Construction, said the agreement would allow the group to expand the use of lower-carbon cement across its projects. “This partnership is a major step forward: it enables us to massively increase the use of low-carbon cement in our projects,” he said. “Change will only happen if we work together, combining the complementary expertise of our two companies to promote more responsible construction.”

BRIAND reported a 30% increase in the production of Hoffmann concrete in 2025, following earlier test phases between 2022 and 2024 and initial projects delivered in 2024 and 2025. The companies said the materials are designed to offer comparable strength, durability and insurability to conventional concrete, while reducing the carbon footprint of buildings.

The agreement also builds on previous cooperation between the two groups, including BRIAND’s participation in the construction of Hoffmann Green’s H2 production facility. The partnership formalises plans to extend the use of clinker-free cement across projects such as offices, commercial and educational buildings, logistics facilities, car parks and temporary structures, as both companies look to broaden the deployment of lower-emissions construction solutions.
