HSBC has appointed Chaoni Huang as Managing Director and Head of Sustainable Finance and Transition for its Asia business, strengthening the bank’s leadership in sustainable and transition finance across the region.
Huang brings around 20 years of experience in sustainable finance to the role and will be responsible for advancing HSBC’s strategy to support clients in their decarbonisation efforts, scaling transition ecosystems and accelerating investment into emerging climate technologies in Asia.
Asia plays a critical role in shaping global transition pathways, and Huang will lead efforts to deploy the full breadth of HSBC’s sustainable finance capabilities to support credible transition strategies and long-term growth.
Announcing the move in a LinkedIn post, Huang said she was “excited to share” that she was starting her new role at HSBC, adding that she would focus on addressing funding gaps in sustainability and climate action by supporting client decarbonisation, catalysing climate technology adoption across industries and building long-lasting partnerships.
“New year, new opportunities and new challenges,” she said.
