Climate Change Decarbonisation

International online platform promoting building decarbonisation launched

Minoro, a new online platform designed to help accelerate the decarbonisation of buildings has been launched. The platform – minoro.org – hosts the latest guidance, methodologies, and policies on carbon management, linking the resources to a series of actions that will decarbonise new and existing buildings.

It has been developed by Grimshaw in collaboration with over 20 supporting organisations including the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), RIBA, Architecture 2030, the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and several national Green Building Councils from across the globe.

Minoro is an international resource providing links and access to over 500 policies, guidance and methodologies related to building decarbonisation. WBCSD claims that this is the first time that such information has been collated and centralized.

The platform can filter information like concept, operation, specific actions or targets such as embodied carbon or procurement, or responsibility from a client to supplier. This enables asset owners, investors, design teams, consultants, contractors and building operators, to set targets and develop clear informed actions across every stage of a building life cycle.

The platform is free to use and currently includes global information as well as specific guidance for key regions, including the UK, Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. All information on Minoro has been contributed and reviewed by peers and organisations, ensuring it is accurate and up-to-date. The platform will continue to evolve with the latest information, and plans are in place to expand its coverage to more countries and regions in the future.
