Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has expanded its collaboration with supply chain risk management firm Achilles by selecting the Achilles Maritime Network to support the management of supply chain risk and ESG performance across its global operations.

ISS operates more than 250 offices in 61 countries and works with a supplier base of over 30,000 companies. The group said the move is intended to provide a more consolidated view of supplier performance and improve oversight across areas including health and safety, sustainability, carbon emissions, financial resilience, ESG and cyber security.

ISS was among the early maritime companies to join the Achilles Maritime Network as an accredited supplier. Under the expanded arrangement, the company will now use the platform to manage its own supply chain, benchmark supplier performance and access validated supplier data.

The Achilles Maritime Network includes more than 2,000 vessels, over 1,200 suppliers and 12 major maritime organisations. The platform is designed to support transparency and risk management across international shipping supply chains.

ISS said the decision aligns with its ESG priorities outlined in its Responsibility and Beyond Report, which focuses on people, environment and business conduct. Supplier activities account for a significant share of the company’s Scope 3 emissions, and ISS said centralising supply chain data on a single platform would support more consistent compliance standards and ongoing monitoring.

Simon Potter, Chief Procurement Officer at ISS, said: “We have seen clear value in our work with Achilles. Extending our use of the Maritime Network enables us to collaborate more closely with suppliers, drive consistent standards and deliver on the commitments outlined in our Responsibility and Beyond Report. ESG considerations are reshaping the maritime industry, and this partnership helps us make measurable progress.”

Craig Rodgerson, Chief Executive Officer of Achilles, said: “Inchcape Shipping Services expanding its use of the Maritime Network marks a significant step for the community. ISS’s global footprint and commitment to responsible business demonstrate how collaborative approaches to supplier assurance can deliver meaningful ESG progress. We look forward to supporting ISS as it strengthens visibility, performance and governance across its value chain.”

ISS’s expanded use of the network comes as shipping companies face increasing regulatory and customer scrutiny over supply chain practices, ESG disclosures and Scope 3 emissions management.
