Pegasus Capital Advisors, a leading private equity firm focused on climate and sustainability solutions, has appointed sustainability trailblazer Jean Rogers as Senior Operating Advisor. The move reinforces the firm’s ambition to scale impact-driven investments across clean energy, regenerative agriculture, and water resilience in emerging markets.
Jean Rogers, founder of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and former Senior Managing Director at Blackstone, has joined Pegasus Capital Advisors as a Senior Operating Advisor. With a career devoted to embedding sustainability into mainstream finance, Rogers brings a wealth of experience in aligning capital with climate action.
Rogers made the announcement on LinkedIn, saying: “I am so pleased to announce that I have joined the team at Pegasus Capital Advisors, as a Senior Operating Advisor. Pegasus has been strengthening access to clean energy, regenerative agriculture, water systems, and ocean health — and creating jobs — for decades, not just making promises.
The Pegasus team asks ‘what needs to be built, and how can we structure the financing to optimise the outcomes?’ — not ‘where can we park capital?’ Embracing complexity, contrarianism, and sustainability, Pegasus gets what finance is for. I’m excited to amplify their impact in the Global South. I will serve on the investment committees of the Subnational Climate Fund and the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, two of the world’s leading blended finance vehicles managed by Pegasus. Excited to see what we can accomplish together!”
Rogers will play a key role in guiding investment decisions, governance, and sustainability impact reporting for the firm’s flagship Article 9-aligned funds. Both the Subnational Climate Fund and the Global Fund for Coral Reefs focus on building resilient infrastructure, protecting ecosystems, and improving livelihoods in developing countries through innovative blended finance structures.
“Jean helped set the global standards for sustainable investing and moved billions of dollars into energy, climate, and infrastructure projects,” said Craig Cogut, Founder and Chairman of Pegasus Capital Advisors. “Her leadership will be vital as we expand our work in delivering strong investor returns while addressing urgent climate and development needs.”
Rogers’s appointment follows Pegasus’s recent $20 million investment in the Subnational Climate Fund, which aims to generate 1.8 billion kWh of renewable energy annually, create 20,000 jobs, improve the lives of 17 million people, and avoid 80 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
She will also collaborate with Pegasus’s senior advisory team, including former White House Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, former Mars Inc. Chief Innovation Officer Paola de Almeida, and environmental policy veteran Terry Tamminen. Her previous board affiliations include the Jane Goodall Institute, Woodwell Climate Research Center, and environmental commodities platform Xpansiv.
Pegasus remains the only private equity firm to hold an official partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), positioning it uniquely to implement climate and nature-focused investments in collaboration with local governments across the Global South.
