Kearney appoints new head of sustainability for Middle East and Africa

Global strategy and management consultancy Kearney has appointed Hani Tohme as its head of sustainability for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

Tohme brings nearly 18 years of experience in consulting and professional services, having held leadership roles at Roland Berger, Arthur D. Little, and Schlumberger. In his new position at Kearney, he will lead the firm’s sustainability practice, supporting clients across various sectors on ESG strategy, net zero planning, supply chain decarbonisation, climate resilience, circular economy initiatives, and sustainable mobility and food systems.

Based across Kearney’s seven MENA offices—Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, Johannesburg, and Riyadh—Tohme will oversee a team of consultants driving sustainability-focused transformations across the region.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Tohme said, “This marks a significant milestone in my personal mission to advance sustainability globally while focusing on a region I deeply believe in: the GCC. In this new chapter, I aim to foster collaboration across the sustainability ecosystem—because real, scalable impact requires action from governments, businesses, communities, and individuals alike.”

He emphasised his ambition to bridge sustainability gaps by establishing multi-stakeholder consortiums integrating expertise from technical, financial, legal, academic, and non-profit sectors.

During his tenure at Roland Berger, where he spent nearly a decade, Tohme served as co-managing director for the Middle East and head of sustainability for MENA. His expertise spans net zero transitions, decarbonisation strategies, biodiversity conservation, and circular economy initiatives, with a particular focus on government utilities, waste, and water management.

Tohme highlighted his approach to embedding sustainability within core business and governmental strategies, balancing economic growth with environmental and social responsibility

Welcoming Tohme to the firm, Mauricio Zuazua, regional chair for Kearney in the Middle East and Africa, said, “Welcome on board, Hani! We are excited for your leadership in aligning economy and sustainability in the region and beyond. We look forward to working with you on this front.”

Tohme expressed his excitement about joining Kearney and said, “I look forward to collaborating with the Kearney team, clients, and partners to turn vision into action. A huge thank you to the Kearney leadership team for entrusting me with this role.”
