Korea Exchange launches English ESG portal to boost investor access

South Korea’s Korea Exchange (KRX) has upgraded its ESG comprehensive information platform and launched an English-language ESG portal.

The move is aimed at improving access to ESG disclosures for foreign investors as domestic reporting requirements expand. From next year, the scope of mandatory corporate governance reports will be extended to cover all companies listed on KOSPI, the exchange said.

As part of the upgrade, the ESG platform has introduced a new function allowing users to compare corporate governance information across KOSPI-listed companies, alongside enhanced search capabilities. A dedicated inquiry screen has also been created for around 80 disclosure items, including compliance with 15 key governance indicators and the adoption of governance-related policies.

The inquiry screen includes more detailed search options, such as company name and industry-specific searches, to improve usability for investors and other stakeholders.

To address information asymmetry between domestic and overseas investors, the KRX will also provide the content of its existing Korean-language ESG portal in English. High-demand materials such as corporate governance reports and sustainability management reports will be made available in English, alongside ESG disclosures and ESG evaluation ratings.

The system has been designed to allow bulk searches of English-language ESG disclosures submitted by companies. Where firms submit disclosures only in Korean, the titles and formats will be automatically converted into English.

The Korea Exchange said the enhanced platform and English-language services are expected to improve access to ESG information for both domestic and international investors, encourage more active ESG disclosures by listed companies, and strengthen the foundations for the growth of ESG investment.
