Lloyds Banking Group has become the first UK bank to earn the Fertility Friendly Employer Accreditation, awarded by Fertility Matters at Work (FMAW). This certification underscores Lloyds’ commitment to supporting employees through their fertility journeys.
The accreditation follows a thorough assessment by FMAW, which evaluates companies on fertility policy guidance, education and awareness initiatives, and employee training. Lloyds was praised for its flexible working policy, fertility-focused events, and internal support networks as key factors in achieving the honour.
As part of its leading policy, Lloyds offers paid time off for fertility treatment and has doubled the minimum leave period following pregnancy loss. These initiatives align with the bank’s dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), positioning Lloyds as a pioneer in family-friendly workplace practices.
Fertility treatment impacts many employees, with one in six affected by infertility and one in four pregnancies ending in loss. Currently, UK law does not mandate time off for fertility treatment, making Lloyds’ policy particularly significant.
Rachel Osikoya, Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion said, “Every individual’s path to parenthood is unique, and for many a journey that is both emotionally and physically challenging. At Lloyds Banking Group we want to ensure no-one feels isolated or unsupported on that journey. This accreditation aligns with our broader approach to DE&I, as we continue to create a culture that embraces all life experiences, helps to break down stigmas and creates an empathetic and inclusive environment for all, no matter their personal circumstances.”
Sharon Doherty, Chief People & Places Officer said, “We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Fertility support is an important part of this, ensuring colleagues can navigate life’s most personal challenges while continuing to thrive in their careers. Supporting colleagues in their fertility journey is just one of the ways we are fostering an environment where our people can thrive, both personally and professionally
