Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has signed heads of terms to integrate Dutch asset manager Ownership Capital into its sustainability division, subject to final agreement and regulatory approvals.
Ownership Capital, founded in 2008, is led by Chief Investment Officer Otto van Buul and specialises in long-horizon equity strategies. Its approach combines analysis of material sustainability factors with active ownership to drive corporate change and deliver long-term returns.
Following completion of the transaction, LOIM’s sustainability offering would reach USD 10 billion under management, covering internal strategies and aligned external products distributed through the firm. LOIM currently oversees USD 78 billion across its core, alternatives and sustainability businesses.
Jean-Pascal Porcherot, Managing Partner of Lombard Odier Group and Co-Head of LOIM, said: “The integration of Ownership Capital is a sign of our continued commitment to sustainable investing, and our conviction in investment approaches supported by deep research. The financial significance of root issues facing our economic model continue to be misunderstood by markets, creating investable opportunities that we believe Otto’s team and its long-term and engaged ownership approach is supremely well-placed to understand.”
Otto van Buul, CIO of Ownership Capital, described the partnership as “a natural alignment of philosophies”. He said: “Lombard Odier shares our forward-looking perspective on sustainability and long-term value creation. This partnership is a natural alignment of philosophies, and we are confident it will enhance our collective investment capabilities.”
LOIM said the deal would combine its proprietary research and system-level sustainability analysis with Ownership Capital’s engagement-focused investment culture. Both firms see strengthening demand for sustainable global equity strategies amid changing market conditions.
