Lufthansa Cargo and CEVA Logistics finalise long-term SAF agreement

Lufthansa Cargo and CEVA Logistics have formalised their earlier Memorandum of Understanding on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into a binding agreement. Under the deal, CEVA will use SAF credited in 2025, equivalent to an estimated reduction of 8,000 tonnes of CO₂.

The new framework agreement, which runs until the end of 2028, reflects a longstanding partnership shaped by transparency, collaboration and shared sustainability goals. “The agreement is a significant step in our sustainable partnership with Lufthansa Cargo and enables us to measurably reduce our CO₂ emissions and make our supply chains more sustainable,” said Loïc Gay, Global Air & Ocean Products VP at CEVA Logistics. He emphasised the importance of working with a partner committed to strong certification standards and transparency.

Lufthansa Cargo also welcomed the strengthened collaboration. Anand Kulkarni, Head of Global Markets, said CEVA’s decision to scale up SAF use demonstrates “a clear commitment to making an effective contribution to the decarbonisation of air freight,” adding that climate action requires “strong partnerships and decisive action.”

The framework agreement establishes a structure for further SAF-related cooperation, with future measures already under consideration. The SAF supplied is produced exclusively from waste and residual materials, free from palm oil, and compliant with stringent international standards. Emission reductions will be verified through audited Emission Mitigation Certificates, supported by Lufthansa Cargo’s audited Proof of Sustainability documentation.

The SAF agreement forms part of a wider sustainability partnership between the two companies, spanning knowledge exchange, circular economy initiatives, and joint innovation and research efforts.
