Mars partners with GoldenPeaks Capital to launch 100+ solar projects in Poland

Mars, Incorporated has announced a major expansion of its renewable energy strategy through a new partnership with European developer GoldenPeaks Capital to deliver more than 100 solar projects in Poland — in what is believed to be the largest multi-buyer renewable energy deal in Central and Eastern Europe.

The projects, set to come online in 2027, will generate more than 129MWac of clean power and approximately 222 GWh annually — enough to supply around 100,000 households. The initiative will support Poland’s transition away from coal and contribute to the European Union’s broader decarbonisation goals.

The deal forms part of Mars’s Renewable Acceleration programme, which seeks to extend clean energy use across the company’s full value chain, including its suppliers. In Poland, Mars has also collaborated with Cargill, which signed its own agreement with GoldenPeaks Capital to enhance the scale of the solar portfolio.

Kevin Rabinovitch, Global Vice President of Sustainability at Mars, said: “Building on our recent work with Enel in North America, this next step in Europe demonstrates our vision to make renewables the standard wherever Mars does business. It’s significant that one of our largest suppliers, Cargill, is joining us to accelerate the shift to clean energy across shared supply chains.”

Adriano Agosti, Founder and Chairman of GoldenPeaks Capital, added: “Mars has transformed its global responsibility into an opportunity, driving decarbonisation across its full value chain. We’re proud to partner in this global purpose.”

The initiative follows Mars’s recent renewable power agreement with Enel in North America and marks another step in its drive to decarbonise operations globally. The Renewable Acceleration programme is expected to reduce the company’s total carbon footprint by 10% by 2030 and supports its long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
