Morningstar DBRS has released an updated version of its Criteria: Approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance Factors in Credit Ratings, outlining how it evaluates and integrates 17 ESG factors into its credit assessments across various sectors, including Governments, Financial Institutions, Corporate Finance, and Structured Finance.

The revisions provide additional clarification and acknowledge the increasingly divergent approaches that different countries are adopting towards ESG-related policies and practices.

Following a routine review, Morningstar DBRS concluded that the changes are not material and will not result in any alterations to existing credit ratings. The updated criteria, which supersedes the previous version published on 13 August 2024, takes effect from 16 May 2025.
