Nasdaq has unveiled the Nasdaq Carbon Academy, a new online learning platform designed to educate individuals on carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategies and technologies. Developed in collaboration with AirMiners, the academy aims to equip participants with the knowledge required to integrate carbon removal credits into corporate climate strategies.
The self-paced course builds on AirMiners’ experience as a network and accelerator for CDR innovators and draws from its previously piloted Buyers Academy. The academy is accessible to the public and is hosted on Nasdaq’s website.
Structured into five modules, the course covers a wide range of topics, including the fundamentals of carbon dioxide removal, methodologies and technologies, credit portfolio management, evaluation of credit quality, and contracting and budgeting strategies. It also addresses how to navigate internal company dynamics to secure support for carbon removal initiatives.
The five modules offered are:
- Introduction to Carbon Dioxide Removal
- Core Carbon Dioxide Removal Concepts
- Carbon Dioxide Removal Methodologies
- Quality, Value, and Aligning Incentives
- Budgeting, Portfolios, and Contracting
Fredrik Ekström, Head of European Product Strategy and Management at Nasdaq and Chairman of Puro.earth, said the platform provides “comprehensive information, from basic to advanced levels, in an accessible and user-friendly format,” and is designed to enhance awareness of carbon markets.
AirMiners CEO Tito Jankowski added that the academy was built to help sustainability leaders move “from curious to confident” in applying CDR in their organisations. He expressed hope that the platform would support a new wave of professionals in reaching their sustainability goals.
