Origis Energy secures over $1bn from Brookfield and Antin for clean energy projects

Origis Energy, a key player in renewable energy development, has secured over $1 billion in strategic investments from Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. and Antin Infrastructure Partners. The funding aims to expand the company’s solar and battery storage projects as demand for clean energy surges in the United States.

Origis Energy develops, constructs, and operates large-scale renewable energy projects across the U.S. Currently, it manages a portfolio of approximately 1 gigawatt (GW) of solar and storage projects across four states. The company also has 3 GW of projects either under construction or construction-ready, alongside a broader development pipeline totalling 25 GW.

In S&P’s 2024 ranking of the largest US solar developers through 2028, Origis Energy was placed fifth.

Vikas Anand, CEO of Origis Energy said, “With two of the world’s most well-respected renewable power infrastructure investors as our partners, we will accelerate our mission and strategy to provide cost-effective, carbon-free electricity to customers across the United States.”

Brookfield’s investment, made through its Infrastructure Structured Solutions strategy, joins ongoing support from Antin, which has been a sponsor of Origis since 2021. This partnership is expected to accelerate the company’s growth and enhance its ability to meet the rising demand for renewable energy.

Hamish Kidd, Managing Director of Brookfield’s Infrastructure business said, “As one of the world’s largest investors in renewable energy, we look forward to utilising our relationships and capital to scale-up the platform and meet the US’s growing demand for clean power.”

Guillaume Friedel, Partner of Antin added, “We are excited to embark on the next chapter of Origis’ growth and evolution and we are pleased to welcome Brookfield into the investor group.”

Origis Energy was advised by PJT Partners, J.P. Morgan, and Santander, with Latham & Watkins serving as legal advisors. Brookfield was represented by Vinson & Elkins.
