1PointFive, a company specialising in carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), has announced a deal with Palo Alto Networks for the purchase of 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits over five years. The credits will be generated through Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology at 1PointFive’s STRATOS facility in Texas, which is expected to come online later this year.
The captured carbon dioxide will be permanently stored via saline sequestration, a geological storage method considered to offer high durability for CO2 removal.
The agreement signals growing corporate interest in long-term carbon removal technologies, as companies seek credible solutions to meet sustainability targets.
Michael Avery, President and General Manager of 1PointFive, said the deal reflects building momentum for high-integrity carbon removal solutions in the US: “We look forward to working with Palo Alto Networks and leveraging Direct Air Capture to support their sustainability goals.”
BJ Jenkins, President of Palo Alto Networks, described the collaboration as part of the company’s wider efforts to pursue innovative climate strategies.
