Repsol & Toyota partner to advance transport and energy decarbonisation

Repsol and Toyota Spain have entered into an agreement to collaborate on low-carbon transport and energy solutions, expanding efforts to reduce emissions across the automotive sector. The partnership will focus on developing multi-technology projects, including electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, renewable electricity supply, solar generation, renewable fuels, emissions-offset initiatives and energy-efficiency measures.

A key component of the agreement is a new energy package for Toyota dealerships in Spain, which will incorporate 100% renewable electricity, installation and maintenance of rooftop solar panels, EV charging points and the use of renewable fuels. The initiative is intended to support emissions reductions across Toyota’s commercial network.

Customers contracting Repsol’s services will also be eligible for discounted electricity tariffs and credits through Waylet, Repsol’s digital loyalty platform, which provides access to more than 7,000 charging points nationwide. Buyers of Toyota’s electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles will be able to install a home charging point from €1,995 under the companies’ joint offer.

The partnership also includes the issuance of Energy Saving Certificates (CAE) and the development of carbon-offset projects. As part of the agreement’s initial steps, Repsol has begun supplying electricity and gas to Toyota’s offices in Spain and will offer a wider suite of energy solutions for the company’s facilities and dealership network.

Repsol’s executive managing director of Customer Relations, Valero Marín, said: “This alliance with Toyota … represents another significant advance in our decarbonisation strategy. Collaborating with a global leader in the automotive industry allows us to develop and scale our energy solutions.”

Miguel Carsi, Chairman and CEO of Toyota and Lexus Spain, added: “This alliance with Repsol marks an important step on our path to carbon neutrality … not only through our vehicles, but also with comprehensive energy solutions for our customers, dealerships and employees.”
