Sean Kidney, CEO of the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), has been appointed as an advisor to the Global Advisory Council of Japan’s GX Acceleration Agency. This strategic appointment will enable the CBI to share its expertise in sustainable finance, offer global insights into Japan’s Green Transformation (GX) strategy, and support international climate finance collaboration.
The GX Acceleration Agency was established under the Japanese government’s Green Transformation (GX) policy and launched operations in July 2024. Over the next decade, the agency aims to facilitate over 150 trillion yen in green investment from the public and private sectors.
The agency collaborates with industries, financial institutions, government bodies, local authorities, and research organisations to accelerate sustainable finance, climate action, and green policy implementation.
To enhance international collaboration in sustainable finance, the agency launched the Global Advisory Council —a panel of renowned global experts specialising in GX policy, sustainable finance, impact investing, and sustainability disclosure.
As an advisor, Sean Kidney will provide strategic guidance to strengthen the GX Acceleration Agency’s international initiatives. Leveraging Climate Bonds Initiative’s expertise in climate finance and green bonds, the agency aims to expand Japan’s GX strategy globally and foster cross-border cooperation in sustainable investment.
The Global Advisory Council of the GX Acceleration Agency comprises a distinguished panel of experts in sustainable finance, impact investing, and green policy. Members include Amit Bouri, CEO of the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), who brings extensive expertise in driving impact investment strategies worldwide.
