Sungrow, a PV inverters and energy storage systems provider, is set to supply inverters for Sharjah’s largest solar PV plant. The 60MWp solar project, developed by Emerge—a joint venture between Masdar and EDF—is being constructed for the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) with Al Mustakbal Clean Tech as the EPC contractor. The plant will be located at the Sajaa Gas Complex and aims to support SNOC’s Net-Zero 2032 goals.
The solar plant will supply power to the gas complex’s operations during the day, with any excess electricity sent to the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA). SEWA will then supply energy back to SNOC at night. Once completed, the project is projected to cut carbon emissions by 66,000 tonnes annually—equivalent to removing over 14,600 cars from the road each year. The initiative aligns with the UAE’s Net-Zero 2050 strategy, reinforcing its shift towards renewable energy and sustainable development.
