Singtel tops the 11th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards

Singapore emerged as the big winner at the 11th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA), held at a gala ceremony in Singapore. For the first time, the city-state’s companies dominated the honours, collectively securing 15 awards across key categories. Companies from Taiwan and Indonesia followed closely, winning 11 awards each.

Singtel led the winners’ circle with five awards — the highest number earned by any company this year. However, Malaysia’s Maybank claimed the top honour, winning the Platinum Award for Asia’s Best Sustainability Report, the highest recognition for excellence in sustainability reporting. Maybank also took home the Platinum Award for Asia’s Best Community Impact Reporting.

Other notable winners included Taiwan’s ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (1 Platinum, 2 Gold), Indonesia’s PT PLN Persero (1 Platinum, 2 Gold), Indonesia’s PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (2 Platinum, 1 Gold), Malaysia’s Leader Energy Group Berhad (2 Platinum), and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (2 Silver, 1 Bronze).

Organised by CSRWorks International, ASRA is the region’s most prestigious recognition for excellence in sustainability reporting. The 2025 edition brought together leading corporations, investors, policymakers, and sustainability professionals from across Asia for a night that celebrated innovation, integrity, and accountability in corporate reporting.

“The ASRA winners are setting global benchmarks for sustainability transparency and leadership,” said Rajesh Chhabara, Founder and Managing Director of CSRWorks International, the organiser of ASRA.

A defining feature of this year’s ceremony was the introduction of the Platinum Award, ASRA’s highest distinction, created to recognise best-in-class sustainability reports that demonstrate exceptional depth, innovation, and alignment with global frameworks such as GRI, SASB, ISSB, TCFD, AA1000, GHG Protocol, UNGP and TNFD.

“We now have four award levels — Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze — reflecting the high level of competition and the outstanding quality of reporting across the region,” added Chhabara.

The awards recognised excellence across 17 reporting categories, spanning key areas such as materiality, stakeholder engagement, climate, supply chain, human rights, governance, workplace and diversity.

The winners of the Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA) were announced in parallel, with the Philippines leading the field — organisations from the country won four awards, followed by strong performances from Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

The 2025 ceremony featured distinguished speakers and special guests. Terence Quek, Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Institute of Directors, was the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Robin Hodess, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), delivered the keynote address. “Today, we’re celebrating more than just sustainability reports — we’re recognising resilience, action, and maturity in corporate accountability,” said Dr. Robin Hodess.

She added, “Since 2022, GRI and the ISSB have been working together to align and optimise how both standards can be applied jointly — through coordinated fundraising, capacity building, and efforts to reduce reporting fatigue. Ultimately, impact reporting and performance reporting are complementary and mutually reinforcing.”

British High Commissioner H. E. Nikesh Mehta congratulated the ASRA finalists in his special message, emphasising that sustainability reporting is driving real, measurable change across Asia. He highlighted the UK’s ongoing support for climate finance initiatives and its active engagement in developing robust carbon markets.

The event also featured a panel discussion titled “What Reports Don’t Include: The Politics of Sustainability Reporting,” with Kay Pang (Independent Director and Lawyer) and Cristina Gil White (Chief Engagement Officer, GRI), moderated by Elaine Cohen (an ASRA Judge) and Rajesh Chhabara.
