UNDP Bahrain has installed an advanced solar energy system on the rooftop of the UN House. This initiative aligns with UNDP’s global Greening Moonshot Initiative, which aims to cut carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.
The newly installed solar system, with a capacity of 52 kWp, now powers part of the UN House’s electricity needs. This development not only plays a vital role in reducing CO2 emissions but also brings UNDP closer to achieving carbon-neutral operations, resulting in substantial economic savings and more efficient resource management.
“At UNDP, we are deeply committed to sustainability and creating a brighter future for the next generations,” Head of Office a.i. Jehan AlMurbati said.
She added, “The installation of this solar energy system is part of our strategy to create a greener office, made possible with financing from the Greening Moonshot Initiative, a global UNDP effort that supports renewable energy solutions. A local supplier provided essential support in the implementation and installation of the system.”
