TERREPOWER expands solar module processing with 50MW refurbishment project

TERREPOWER, formerly BBB Industries, has announced a major expansion of its solar module processing operations at its facility in Sparta.

The company will process around 95,000 solar panels, representing 50 MW of capacity, using its proprietary sustainable manufacturing process. The modules, originally held by a large developer after a project cancellation, are being refurbished and prepared for re-entry into the market.

Alexandra Harrison, President of TERREPOWER’s Industrial Strategic Business Unit, said the expansion marks the company’s largest solar opportunity to date and demonstrates the value of restoring and redeploying solar modules through sustainable manufacturing.

The move comes as the solar industry faces a growing challenge from decommissioned and ageing panels. In the US, end-of-life volumes have already reached an estimated 4–5 million panels annually and are expected to rise to around 10 million per year by 2030, driven by repowering activity and extreme weather events.

TERREPOWER said its Sparta facility provides end-to-end evaluation, cleaning, testing, inspection and validation of solar modules, offering verified and traceable products at a time of increased market volatility.

The 200,000-square-foot facility is the largest of its kind in North America, with capacity to process up to 300,000 modules per year and scalability beyond one million panels annually. At full capacity, the operation is expected to divert more than 16 million pounds of material from landfill each year while supporting local jobs and investment.
