Trinasolar and AGL power solar farm for Australian Almond Orchard

The Kerarbury Farm is expected to generate up to 14,000MWh of solar generation annually.

Trinasolar has supplied over 10,000 high-performance solar modules for a 6MW renewable energy project at the Kerarbury almond farm in New South Wales, Australia. Developed by AGL Energy, the site is expected to generate up to 14,000MWh of electricity annually, achieving approximately 83% renewable energy penetration.

In addition to the solar array, the project includes a 2.3MW/4.5MWh battery storage system. Together, these systems will enable ofi (Olam Food Ingredients), the world’s largest almond grower and operator of the farm, to reduce its dependence on diesel and grid power, lowering greenhouse gas emissions. The energy generated is sufficient to power the nearby town of Griffith for an entire year.

We’ve established strong partnerships with diverse industries, including almond growers like Kerarbury and Caddell. This project marks our third installation tailored to the almond sector. Under a 20-year agreement, AGL will own, operate, and maintain the system, allowing ofi to focus on production while benefiting from sustainable energy.”

The installation has been physically completed and commissioned, with final network approvals pending. Once fully operational, it will contribute significantly to regional decarbonisation efforts and demonstrate the viability of large-scale renewable energy in agricultural operations.
