Verra, a standards-setter for the carbon markets has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Treasury, Finance, Works, and Public Services of the Misiones Province, Argentina. The MoU is aimed at promoting comprehensive capacity building for ministry officials and stakeholders interested in the carbon market.
Verra will provide training on carbon markets, their status in the region, the operation of Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Programme and its methodologies with the greatest potential for use in the province.
“We are excited to work with Verra to facilitate greater understanding and improved capacity building for a broad range of Misiones stakeholders, including governments, project proponents, investors, and other interested parties, and to help drive more climate finance access, which is crucial to funding more projects throughout the country,” Adolfo Safran, minister of treasury, finance, works and public services of the Misiones Province, Argentina.
“We are confident that this working agreement will advance the climate goals of the Province of Misiones by facilitating access to carbon markets financing,” said Angelo Sartori, Verra’s senior director, regional engagement.
