Salient Predictions selected for AWS clean energy accelerator 4.0

Salient Predictions, a subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) weather forecasting and insights platform, has been chosen as one of 21 startups from over 800 applicants across 74 countries to join the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Clean Energy Accelerator 4.0 Generative AI edition. This accelerator, designed to support enterprise customers in scaling their decarbonisation efforts through co-innovation with emerging clean energy and climate tech solutions from mature startups, aims to advance net zero pathways and the deployment of clean energy solutions to meet global energy demands.

“We’re pleased to welcome Salient into the Clean Energy Accelerator 4.0 as we work together to accelerate energy transitions through generative AI and grid modernisation. With focus areas spanning from sustainability, to clean energy, to alternative fuels, we’re excited for this collaboration in helping us reach our net zero goal,” said Howard Gefen, General Manager of Energy and Utilities, AWS.

The AWS Clean Energy Accelerator 4.0 emphasises key areas such as generative AI for clean energy, water tech acceleration, energy storage, grid modernisation and security, and alternative fuels. The program will facilitate collaboration between global energy organisations and the cohort to advance customer trials, pilots, and partnerships aimed at accelerating clean energy adoption. Amazon Operations Sustainability has also joined as a piloting partner, seeking breakthrough solutions in low-carbon building technologies, circular economy practices, and fleet management.

Matt Stein, Salient CEO said, “We are excited to join the latest cohort of the AWS Clean Energy Accelerator to engage with AWS’s corporate partners and staff. This program will help us continue to define and shape the future of clean energy innovation.”

“With our enhanced S2S forecasting platform, we’re setting a new standard in weather intelligence, offering decision-makers the tools to not only survive but thrive in the face of unpredictable weather. Our commitment to accuracy, usability, and tailored insights marks a pivotal step forward in how industries approach risk and opportunity management,” stated Janet Lee, Chief Product Officer at Salient.

Announced at COP28 and starting in March 2024, the AWS Clean Energy Accelerator 4.0 will engage participants and piloting partners in immersion sprints and workshops throughout the year. These sessions will explore piloting opportunities and showcase clean energy technology innovations to industry leaders, experts, and investors.
