NYK to transport green ammonia from India to Japan

NYK Line has finalised a basic agreement for the marine transport of green ammonia from India to Japan, in collaboration with Kyushu Electric Power Company, Sojitz Corporation, and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries.

This collaborative initiative aims to leverage India’s abundant renewable energy resources to produce highly competitive green ammonia. The partnership is set to annually produce and transport approximately 200,000 metric tons of this eco-friendly ammonia, supplying it to various industrial customers throughout Japan, with a particular focus on the Kyushu region.

The agreement leverages NYK’s extensive expertise and experience in ammonia transport, significantly enhancing the supply chains necessary for distributing green ammonia not only in Kyushu but across Japan, reinforcing the country’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.
