Dubai Chamber launches ESG label to boost sustainable business practices

In line with the UAE’s ‘Year of Sustainability,’ Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, has introduced a new Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Label to encourage sustainable business practices. Created by the Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business, the label aims to help organisations assess their ESG readiness, gain recognition, and foster growth.

The label was developed through a comprehensive assessment by globally recognised ESG experts, who reviewed global and regional regulations and reporting frameworks to determine key factors for evaluating ESG maturity. The business community also contributed to shaping the framework, ensuring it aligns with global best practices and meets both local and international ESG standards.

H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers stated, “The Dubai Chamber of Commerce ESG Label addresses the need for a holistic approach to sustainable business practices that benefit society and the environment, while also supporting our mission to promote good governance and ethical business practices. By shifting the emphasis from corporate social responsibility to ESG labelling, we aim to encourage businesses to adopt comprehensive strategies that embed sustainability into their core operations and decision-making processes.”

Organisations that have been operating for at least two years can apply for the label, which offers benefits such as alignment with ESG best practices, improved brand reputation, and added value for investors. The framework benchmarks ESG practices against key parameters and peer companies regionally and globally.

Participating organisations receive a feedback report outlining areas for improvement, along with a maturity score based on their ESG rating. The ESG Label certificate is valid for one year.
