Carbonmark, EcoRegistry announce integration to enhance carbon credit market

Carbonmark and EcoRegistry have announced a major technology integration aimed at improving transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in carbon markets. The partnership enables a range of features including real-time carbon credit transactions, lifecycle transparency, and secure automated processes, providing streamlined solutions for participants in the environmental commodity market.

The integration allows buyers on Carbonmark to directly access projects listed on EcoRegistry.com, improving market dynamics by facilitating seamless transactions. Carbonmark, known for providing secure and interoperable solutions for the environmental commodity market, simplifies inventory management and provides APIs to integrate environmental assets into third-party applications. This central hub of aggregation improves access and usability for market participants.

EcoRegistry’s platform supports the issuance of environmental assets and tracks unit’s post-issuance using Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), enhancing transparency and ensuring no double counting. Their system involves multiple stakeholders during the origination process, safeguarding data and supporting evidence during the carbon credit issuance process.

Juan Duran, CEO of EcoRegistry said, “The market needs participants willing to bring down barriers between supply and demand and generate new opportunities and markets for the project owners. Carbonmark is implementing innovative methodologies to deploy, receive feedback, and adapt to the market’s needs.”

This integration streamlines the entire lifecycle of carbon credits, from issuance to trading, and expands access to impactful global carbon projects. These include community-based afforestation and reforestation projects, conservation initiatives, methane abatement efforts, and renewable energy developments. Notable projects include the Proyecto Conservación ARLEQUÍN REDD+ in Colombia, which protects 82,626 hectares of tropical rainforest through reforestation to reduce deforestation, and the Proyecto REDD+ PAZcífico Sur, also in Colombia, which aims to reduce deforestation and emissions through carbon reservoir conservation and community involvement.

Drew Bonneau, Director of Carbonmark said, “We’re proud to integrate with a technologically advanced player like EcoRegistry that has led innovation in the voluntary carbon market. Projects certified under the ICROA-endorsed Cercarbono standard will now be available to our diverse client base.”
