ClearBlue launches EV Aggregator to simplify EV credit generation

Canada-based ClearBlue Markets has launched the ClearBlue EV Aggregator, a new solution aimed at simplifying the generation of electric vehicle (EV) credits under Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) while reducing costs for participants. This proprietary tool consolidates carbon credits from various EV projects, making it more accessible and affordable for smaller EV charger owners and larger fleet operators to engage in the CFR programme.

“ClearBlue’s EV Aggregator enables smaller EV charger owners to participate in the CFR programme more easily and affordably. This accelerates Canada’s transition to zero-emission vehicles,” said Michael Berends, CEO of ClearBlue Markets.

The CFR requires participants to undergo third-party verification, a process that can be cost-prohibitive for smaller operators, thus discouraging many from pursuing EV project credits. By pooling data from multiple EV chargers, ClearBlue’s EV Aggregator minimises these costs and increases credit marketability, making it a financially viable option for more participants.

The platform simplifies the entire CFR process, from registration to monitoring, reporting, verification, and credit transactions. Clients can access real-time data on project performance, credit tracking, and financial insights through a personalised dashboard available on the ClearBlue Vantage carbon intelligence platform. This minimises the financial burden of third-party verification and improves profitability for participants in the credit market.

“Our EV Aggregator simplifies and automates the crediting process. It provides clients with a turnkey platform that consolidates project data, removes barriers to market access, and offers CFR credit price insights with up-to-date market data,” Berends added.

Key features of the ClearBlue EV Aggregator include an eligibility assessment for CFR credits, seamless agreement execution, and facility integration to easily add charging site information to a personalised dashboard. The platform also provides site mapping, API integration for automatic tracking of energy consumption, and a credit dashboard for real-time monitoring. Additionally, users receive financial overviews, including detailed revenue breakdowns from credit sales.

As Canada strives to achieve 100% zero-emission vehicle sales for new light-duty vehicles by 2035, with interim targets of 20% by 2026 and 60% by 2030, the ClearBlue EV Aggregator supports the development of EV infrastructure, which is essential for meeting these climate goals.

The ClearBlue EV Aggregator also facilitates participation in other low-carbon fuel standard programmes, including those in British Columbia, California, Oregon, Washington, and the European Union. The tool will expand to additional jurisdictions over time, enhancing its global applicability and impact.

The EV Aggregator is designed to assist small compliance category 3 (CC3) credit creators, including EV charging site hosts, network operators, municipalities, and industrial players with EV fleets or charging infrastructure. The tool allows a wide range of clients with EV infrastructure to generate valuable credits under the CFR programme.
