India’s AM Green Technology and Solutions B.V. (a division of the AM Green Group), a global leader in energy transition solutions, has signed binding agreements to acquire Finnish biorefining company Chempolis Oy and Fortum 3 B.V. entities.

With this acquisition, AM Green aims to establish large-scale bio-refineries that leverage multiple feedstocks to produce high-value green products, advancing global efforts to decarbonise industries such as aviation, fuels, chemicals, and other industrial sectors.

Chempolis’ advanced technology enables the processing of 2G waste feedstocks to produce high-value green chemicals like ethanol, furfural, and pure lignin. This acquisition will accelerate AM Green’s vision of becoming the world’s leading platform for industrial decarbonisation.

Chempolis Oy, a pioneer in lignocellulosic feedstock processing, boasts over 15 years of research and development expertise, supported by a strong R&D team.

AM Green sees tremendous potential in the downstream applications of these products, opening opportunities in multiple green chemical value chains for both consumer and industrial sectors.

Anil Chalamalasetty, Group Chairman of AM Green said, “We are excited to partner with Chempolis to advance the processing of 2G ligno-cellulosic feedstocks. This highlights our commitment to developing innovative, technology-enabled solutions to establish large-scale biorefineries that utilise multiple feedstocks & produce high-value green products enabling global decarbonisation in aviation, fuels, chemicals, and other industrial sectors.”

AM Green plans to collaborate with global partners to create a worldwide bio-refinery ecosystem by licensing Chempolis’ technology, accelerating the global energy transition.

The large-scale biorefineries developed using Chempolis’ technology will play a critical role in processing upstream feedstocks, which will then be transformed into downstream chemicals and fuels, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). AM Green will invest approximately $1 billion to develop more than 0.5 million tonnes per annum of Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) SAF plants by 2027, contributing to airline decarbonisation worldwide.

Additionally, AM Green will continue to enhance its platform’s technological capabilities to process a broader range of feedstocks, converting them into high-value green products suited for diverse consumer and industrial markets.
